Contributed to the design, architecture, and development of all UI components, content blocks, page layouts, and novel elements

rubinobservatory.org is the primary public facing portal for all Rubin Observatory news, media, and outreach. As the Senior Software Engineer and Technical Lead on the Education and Public Outreach team I contributed to the initial design and architecture of the site, as well as some contributions to frontend development. Our design and UI/UX invite visitors to the site to engage with Astronomy and Astrophysics in an educational but playful way, avoiding information-overload, or overly technical explanations of the science. These choices expressed themselves in everything from our color palette and logo, to our commitment to Web Accessibility and Localization, to our foregrounding of the people behind the scientific discoveries.
The site features, among other topical information, a media gallery, news, and educational materials. The educational materials include some of the most interesting and interactive data visualizations I've ever worked on and the Rubin Observatory - Classroom Investigations Data Visualizations post explores them in greater depth.
